You can set your view of the message board to show the new threads before the older ones by going to "User CP" in the functions bar at the top of the page and selecting "Edit Options" in the list on the left. Once you're on that page scroll down to the "Thread Display Options" and here you can set all the view setting for when you are looking at threads. If you set "Thread Display Mode" to "Linear - Newest First" it will show all newer posts before it shows old ones.

Another good option is Hybrid which will show a summary of all posts as links at the top of the thread so you don't have to go to page 2, 6 or 10 to see the newest post in that thread. You just click on the link at the top of the page for the post you want to see.
