In addition to layoffs, employers are starting to cut hours because employees that work less than 30 hours don't have to be given company funded healthcare. Which means more people will have to file for assistance. They will probably have to pay the fine for not having insurance.

Our area has already seen a large petrochemical plant discontinue health insurance because the fine from the Feds is actually cheaper. They just walked in one day and announced that everyone had on month of coverage and that the company would give everyone $600/year. To help pay for employees coverage. How can anyone get a policy for that amount?

A focus group, of which I am a member, was discussing insurance policies that the differ members had either through work or individually. I was amazed at how lame some of those policies really are! $5000 deductible and employee costs of $500/month? I certainly don't agree with Obamacare (I believe that it's just one more way for the government to mis-spend our tax dollars -no administration has proven that they can fix Medicare or the postal system and yet we hand them out health care) I believe that there should be big changes, but not by the government.
