Glucose Monitors for Diabetics Question

May sound like a strange question but I wanted to know.
My friend that passed had 2 of the Blood Glucose Monitors. Are these safe to let someone else have or should I just discard them? I try to pass everything I can to someone in need and I know there are plenty of people like me with no medcal insurance. I just don't want to pass these on if it's unhealthy to do so. I'm not a diabetic so I have no idea how these really work. Thanks for any help.

They should be fine to use. I would wipe it down with an alcohol swab or something similar first, but I don't see a problem with donating it. I use my mother-in-law's machine if I'm at their house and need to check my blood sugar. There are also many links here at MBB to get free machines. I get the free machines and donate them also.

Thank you so much! I really didn't know and I hate to throw anything away that someone may need or could use! I knew you could get them free various places but for anyone without insurance they may not be able to get them. I'll be posting on freecycle or taking them to the outreach mission in town now. Thank you again!

Also... be sure to discard any unused test strips and be sure that the lancet (the part that pokes the finger) is removed if its in the lancing device.
