I have one that came with my Honda (I get lost waay too easy and I'm STILL an explorer). . .the S.O. is looking for one for his vehicle. He's looked around and found one that has bluetooth capability, a back-up camera, XM radio. . .I dunno, a buncha bells and whistles mine doesn't have LOL I think it's linked to a satellite, so you'd have a monthly fee as well with that one. If you don't have a satellite service, you'd not have the alternate routing available around traffic clogs, etc., but you would be able to keep current maps by buying new ones every few years. I think he said the one he's looking at now runs around $1,200, but you can get navi systems for much less than that.

I bought son and Sil Garmins for Christmas in 2006. I inquired around and everyone suggested this brand. I had Onstar in my Suv for years but gave it up in Jan. because $16.95 a month was too steep for something I used so rarely. I renewed my Triple A membership for less than half the amount and will use cell phone for help if I need it. OnStar was fantastic though.....got lost going to a Steeler week-end in Cincinnati one year and couldn't find the hotel at 2 AM. Pushed a button and the Operator knew what steet we were on and told us what turns to make. It was really neat. Good luck and do some comparison shopping.

We have a Garmin too, hubby really likes it. I would suggest buying one that can be mounted on the dash but also can be removed from the vehicle.. only reason I say that is because GPS systems are one of the leading reasons now for vehicle breakins, I read a story on that in MSN I think it was.. GL!

I bought hubby and son one each at christmas, I bought them the garmin streetpilot c330.. We all love it! Can use it straight out of the box! its simple, you can program your home in it, and if you were to be lost somewhere, or gone far and want to come home, just touch the Home button we programmed in, and it gives the directions.. also if you drive differently from the given directions, it will readjust itself to give you directions again. Its great... I think I only paid 140. each for it. One of the best things I have ever bought.
