If they don't already have one, how about a digital camera or camcorder (so they can record your new grandbaby's life for you, since you will be so far away! )

Are they christening the child? How about a special christening outfit?

A photo session with a good photography studio for mom, dad & baby is always nice.

The diapers are a great idea, just make sure she isn't "going cloth".

For my daughter my mom and I went together and got her a really nice glider rocker and ottoman...you could order it from a furniture store and have it delivered. Now...the third and youngest grandchild is 7 and the rocker rocks on.

OH....my mom (great grandma) quilted a twin size quilt for her quilt and tho she is 12 now...it still seems to find itself at my house whenever she sleeps over.
