Default $3 Off @ Walmart if Item Rings Up Wrong at Checkout

A little known policy at Walmart is that if the price of an item
rings up wrong at the checkout you get $3 off that item.
Can be a big savings these days with the poor economy.

You will have to complete your purchase(s) and then go to
customer service to point out the error to receive the $3.
So don't point it out to the cashier at the time of the mistake
or you won't get the $3.

Now you will probably find that most store employees & even
the managers will say they don't know about this policy. So
you'll have to ask them to look it up. Getting your $3 back may
take a while, but it's worth it.

And another part of this policy is that if an item that costs less
then $2.99 rings up wrong, you get it free! Same process applies
that you must complete the purchase and go to Customer Service
to get the refund. Show you receipt & the item.

Michigan Residents: The Michigan pricing law states that they
have to give you the difference of the error plus ten times the
difference up to a limit of $5.00. This goes for every store.

Not sure if any other states have specific laws like Michigan does,
check your state web sites for consumer laws to find out.

This is very good to know. But I have had to go back to the store before because a reduced item rang up at the original price. They say that doesn't count, do you know if that is correct?

I have received many refunds on the Michigan scanning law. Some stores give you a hard time (ie: Meijer's) on it but most just hand you the money.
