Grilled Banana Split
1 large, slighly underripe banana
1/2 tsp melted butter
2 Tbsp fat-free, reduced-sugar chocolate syrup
1/2 tsp orange liqueur (optional)
2/3 cup sugar-free vanilla ice cream
2 Tbsp sliced almonds, toasted
(To toast almonds, spread in single layer in heavy-bottomed skillet. Cook & stir over medium heat 1-2 minutes, or until nuts are lightly browned. Remove from skillet immediately and cool before using.)
Coat grill with nonstick cooking spray and prepare grill for direct cooking.
Cut UNPEELED bananas lengthwise, brush melted butter over the cut sides and grill, cut side down, over medium hot coals for 2 minutes, or until lightly browned; turn and grill 2 more minutes, or until tender.
Combine the chocolate syrup and liqueur (if you are using it) in a small bowl.
Cut the banana halves in half crosswise and carefully remove the peel.
Place 2 pieces of banana in each bowl; top with 1/3 cup of ice cream, 1 Tbsp syrup and 1 Tbsp almonds. Serve immediately
