This is the 2nd peanut butter related outbreak in just a few years. I almost won't eat peanut butter any more at all! Although, the FDA says that major national brands of jarred peanut butter are not affected by the Peanut Corporation of America (PCA) recall. "PCA does not sell peanut butter directly to consumers. PCA only sells peanut butter to institutions and food manufacturers (some of which use it as an ingredient in other processed/packaged foods)." [<---That's the part that scares me!] Some food manufacturers use PCA peanut butter or peanut paste in baked or processed foods, such as crackers, cookies, cakes or ice cream to name a few. The FDA and food manufacturers are working to identify products that may be affected, and to track the ingredient supply chain of those products to facilitate their removal from the marketplace.

The list of products that may be affected is still under investigation; however, several companies have issued recalls because their products may have been produced with ingredients supplied by PCA. Information about recalled products and the investigation can be accessed at the FDA website at http://www.fda.gov/oc/opacom/hottopi...nellatyph.html.

Is anyone else boycotting all peanut butter products, or is it just me??

I'm not boycotting any peanut butter products. It's still a great source of protein. There was a problem with tomatoes not too long ago and spinach before that. As unfortunate as it is that some people are getting sick, it amazes me that they can find the source in such a short period of time when you think about it. If you really stop to think about the vast population of this country and the people we feed, it's really a very quick turn around to find the source and solve the problem.
