Default Bought Dept store cosmetics in 2003/2004 - get freebie

Class action suit has settled. This freebie can be had only for a week from 20 January 2009 - go to original store and claim. For instance, I bought Prescriptives in that period....they have my details there (dates and products purchased). There are choices but mine will be Clinique Moisture Surge 30ml/1 oz.

I see the link doesn't work. This is the email I received:

Notice of Product Distribution on January 20, 2009

You have signed up to receive this notification regarding the settlement product distribution taking place in In re Cosmetics Cases - Azizian, et al. v. Federated Department Stores, Inc., et al. As part of the settlement, $175 million worth of free cosmetics products will be distributed to class members at stores owned by the Retailer Defendants for a maximum of seven days, while supplies last, on a first come, first served basis, beginning on January 20, 2009. No rainchecks will be issued. Each class member will be entitled to a maximum of one free product.

To determine whether you are a member of the class and to see a list of the free products that will be distributed and a list of the stores from which the products will be distributed, visit the settlement website at www.cosmeticssettlement.com. Not all products will be available in all stores; stores will only be distributing products of brands that the particular store ordinarily sells.

this is what i read today:

As part of a class action settlement, many major retail stores will be handing out up to $25 worth of free cosmetics starting January 20 to each customer. No prior proof of purchase or receipt is required to take part in this settlement offer. All that is required is that the customer show up at the stores and fill out a short form stating that they had bought something at the store during the period of 1994-2004 (no proof required).

I saw a tv segment about this...and it would imply that you don't need to show proof of anything....that it's open to everyone. I'll go tomorrow and let you know.

Macy's had set up a long table in a separate area (away from cosmetic counters) manned with many people. No wait at all. A monitor sends you to a portion of the long table where no one is being helped...didn't even ask me what I usually buy but it turned out I was sent to the Clinique/Estee Lauder section anyway. No choice of product but as it turned out I got what I wanted anyway - 1 oz jar of Clinique Moisture Surge. No one asked me anything about what I've bought in the past. All you do and print your name and sign on some sheet.

Gee. I realize this subject is on another post in freebies but this one had 98 views and only two replies (thanks Gayle and Alice). No one else even recounted their experience. Altruism is great but one needs feedback or loses interest.

I went to Macy's and they had run out by the time I got there, but told me Dillards still had product. They had 2 options: Estee Lauder night treatment or Clinique Moisture surge. They were both tempting, but I went for the moisturizer, as did the friend I took with me.
