One Nursing home that my dad stayed at before he died tried
to get money from me, but I read through the Patient handbook
and found that they could not hold me responsible, so they did
not pursue it. He was on Medicaid while he was there, but they thought
he had money left in the bank. What little was there was gone quickly, and Soc.
Security demands the last month's check be returned, no matter what time of
the month you die. They allow a person only $30(?) a month out of the check for
personal items! The rest went to the Nursing home.
I wish there was a list of those 29 States they mention.
