Thanks, Mittens did finally show up late in the afternoon, all wet and looking like a drowning rat!
DH got home to find her waiting by the laundry room door, meowing loudly. I don't think she even heard any of what had gone on; I'm pretty sure she has some hearing loss. I was down at the other end of the motel helping make beds, so I had not heard her over the rain and traffic. The odd thing is that she keeps wailing when she's inside for attention and wants back out even though it's raining again/still. I guess we're getting leftovers of Hurricane Irene, and it's spiralling back here in a counter-clockwise for a few more days.
