Lightbulb New Camper in Need of Advice

Greetings everyone! My family and I have just purchased our first travel trailer and I was wondering if I could pick the brain of those who are more knowledgable than myself! I am wondering what you need to stock your trailer with for the maiden voyage. Maybe you could tell me what the one thing you can't live without is ... and any tips on cheap ways to do it! (Other than this web site which I LOVE!)

Thanks!

Cori - The Happy Camper

Default congrats!!

on your new camper....I don't have one but my ex in-laws did and I know the one thing you can never have too much of is tuna!! A tuna sandwich comes in handy anytime when you don't want to or don't feel like cooking!!! And make sure you have peanut butter for the kids and of course you have to have lots of ziploc baggies and baby wipes......these are good for everything!!! Have fun every time you go........

The last time I went tent camping I was about 19. I took my 2 yongest brothers, then 11 and 12, camping at a nearby lake. The campground was set up like a sloping cul-de-sac. There were some people partying in the campround above ours and someone must have forgotten to put the e-brake on in one of their cars. It came rolling down the hill toward us. My brothers and I were in the tent. Luckily, I heard the commotion and was unzipping the tent to get us the heck out. The car ran over the back side of the tent, right where our heads were laying 5 seconds earlier..... Probably the scariest moment of my life...

WOW that sounds scary!!! We haven't had too many scary moments camping. Just the occassional bear sniffing around our tent while I'm inside clutching our 1yo daughter. My DH of course snoring away, oblivious .

Red face Not A Big Camper

MY MOST MEMORABLE CAMPING EXPERIENCE WAS SEVERAL YEARS AGO WHEN A CO-WORKER (ALSO FEMALE) AND I TOOK SEVERAL TEENAGERS CAMPING TO AN AREA WE WERE ASSURED WAS BEAR-FREE. WELL OF COURSE DURING THE NIGHT OUR VISITOR WAS GOOD OLD SMOKY WHO TORE UP OUR CAMPGROUND WHILE I WAS IN A TENT WITH OUR NEW WIMPERING PUP AND 9-YEAR OLD DAUGHTER. TWO WEEKS LATER, I RAN ACROSS A NEWSPAPER ARTICLE MENTIONING HOW RENEGADE BEARS FROM YELLOWSTONE PARK WERE BEING RELOCATED TO THE AREA WE HAD CAMPED. MY HUSBAND LOVES CAMPING - REAL OUTDOORS PERSON. FIGURES YOU'RE CHEATING IF YOU USE A TENT. HE LIKES JUST A BEDROLL UNDER THE STARS AND HE AND THE KIDS CAN GO AS OFTEN AS THEY LIKE WHILE I'M COZY AT HOME WITH MY COMPUTER AND TV.

Default Do you know of any good places in So. Cal to go?

We are looking for a few good 3 or 4 day trips in Southern California. Some amenities for my 5 and 7 years old would be great! We love hiking too!
