Default Tropical Storm Humberto

This crazy little storm formed yeserday. It now has sustained winds @65 mph! It's moving N-NE (towards me!LOL) It should make landfall by 3am, about 60 miles from here, between Galveston and Beaumont. We are expecting between 5 and 10 inches of rain and the flooding that goes with it. All of the schools are closed tomorrow. There is a chance that it could become a Cat. 1 storm before it makes landfall. There shouldn't be much damage, but the Red Cross shelters are open for those in flood zones or mobile homes. Keep your fingers crossed for us!

Oh Nan! I have the TV on in the background and heard that it took a turn and they thought it was going to hit Lake Charles and I immediately thought of you. They also said it had slowed down so it's staying over water longer which will make it a stronger storm. I'm praying that you stay safe. Looks like you're going to have to pull out the galoshers again.

Nan - when I turned on the computer an hour ago my first thought was of you. It has hit Texas as a Cat 1. Supposed to dump at least a foot of rain in already too wet areas.

Please stay safe. Good thoughts are coming your way...

Seems like most of this year's storms have swung through the
Gulf. Hoping and praying that you all remain safe. Keep us
posted when you can.

Whew! We dodged a bullet! Amazing how quickly this storm formed and became a hurricane! It's still raining here and the wind is gusting, but things are settling down. We will be at risk for flooding for the next week as the rivers drain into our area. I live about 6 miles East of Lake Charles and the eye basically passed over my community, so we didn't get as much rain. My mom lives just west of Beaumont, and she lost power. Thank God for cell phones! We still have power, but thousands around us do not! Thanks for all of the prayers!
