Thumbs up

This is a good buy if
you are running XP with 1GB. Vista just need more.

Also, these computers are work horses.

I can see you know more about this than I do! All that I mostly recognized is the "pentium" which I've never had at home and wish I did! But you made me look this up to see. It does say it's running XP Pro. I'm surprised. Thought we had to have Vista now whether we wanted it or not! Our old computer guy explained why Vista is so slow. Think he said MSN thought the processors would get faster and they didn't. So now they just add MORE processors which doesn't really solve the problem. Apparently Vista needs a whole processor all of its own!

Hard drive: 80GB
Display: 14.1" TFT display
Graphics: ATI - Machine type 2668 64 MB ATI Mobility Radeon X300

I have Vista Ultimate with 3G and I have LOVED it from day one. I went kicking and screaming to Vista but now I wouldn't go back to XP willingly.

A nonprofit group in Louisiana that helps those with disabilities and the elderly had some of these refurbished laptops and we were able to buy one in October for $249 (normally $349 but they got a grant to help offset the costs). We haven't gotten what we need to use it for the internet yet. So far it is for word processing only.

My understanding of Vista is that it's probably just fine for a home user. If you use it for biz, then it just doesn't interface well with your other existing programs. The computer guy complained a lot about it but it was good for him. So many interface problems he got LOTS of calls. But he had more than enough biz already.

DH is a retired engineer and he has so many complicated programs and Vista gave him fits. He has finally got all to work after quite a while of head banging. One of his most important programs won't run on it. He called the author who said he wasn't sure if he would redo it for Vista. So now he keeps an XP similar to your deal for that one.

i'm cracking up again! thought when you said "fits", that it was some special gizmo Vista gave him so that his programs would work. Oh no! I'm mentally impaired again today....
