The 4 Types Of Women Who Are Afraid Of Commitment
Relationship commitment-phobia isn’t just a guy thing. The truth is, women choose men with commitment capacities similar to their own. That’s according to psychologist Elina Furman, who wrote the book Kiss & Run. Here are the four types of women who are afraid of commitment … and how to get over it:- The nitpicker. This is a woman who always manages to find a break-up worthy flaw in every man she dates. Basically, if you’re looking hard enough for the bad stuff, you’ll find it or invent it. Instead, prioritize your ideal-man check list into “deal breakers” and things you can let slide The serial dater. This is a woman who always has a back-up man waiting in the wings. Dr. Furman calls this “ego-courting” because every time you go out with a new guy, you get compliments, you get spoiled, and a guy on his best behavior. Instead, when one relationship ends, deal with being single. If you can’t give yourself positive reinforcement, you’re not ready for a relationship. The been-there been-burned woman. She’s emotionally wounded and doesn’t trust any man. Even if you’ve dated a string of jerks, you need to look at your own accountability. Maybe there were signs and you were too love-struck to see them. Take responsibility for your part and then next time, do it differently.
- The Long Distance Runner. She gets in 5 year relationships, one after the other, but never crosses the finish line. Dr. Furman says, stop wasting your valuable time on relationships that’ll never be right, hoping that they’ll change. You know in your heart whether it’s going to work, long-term, after 6 months. If it’s not, move on and break your relationship patterns.
