Do you know a young person making a difference in your community?

If so, they could be one of 12 winners to receive $10,000 in prizes!

($10,000 is approximate a $7,500 college scholarship, $2,500 donation fortheir special cause and other pawsome rewards. Prizes awarded in local currency.)

The Build-A-Bear Workshop Huggable Heroes Contest begins 12:00:01 a.m. ET (Eastern Time) January 16, 2009 & ends 11:59:59 p.m. ET February 27, 2009.

ONLINE: Log onto: (U.S. residents), follow the links to the contest area and complete the registration form.

It's about someone or yourself who has made/makes a difference to the quality of life in their community and/or around the world.

Please tell us about the nominee’s cause by answering the following:
1) Describe the Community Service Project (in 25 words or less)
2) Tell us about what he/she did/does (in 100 words or less)
3) Explain what inspired or motivated this individual to get involved in helping others (in 100 words or less)
4) Give examples of the accomplishments and/or the impact/inspiration he/she is making/made (in 100 words or less)
5) Tell us:
-How many hours does your nominee volunteer a month?
-How much money has your nominee raised for their cause and/or how many items have they collected or assembled for their cause?
-Is there anything else you would like us to know about this individual (in 100 words or less)

All Entries will then be divided into 2 categories based on the Nominee’s age: 7-12 and 13-18. All eligible entries received will be scored based on the following judging criteria*:
-Accomplishments and impact of the accomplishments (75% of total score)
-Inspiration to others relating to cause (25% of total score)

-A Nominator may enter themselves.
-A Nominator may enter more than one Nominee so long as each entry is a separate Entry and meets all entry requirements.

Nominator and Nominee must be legal residents of the 50 United States, D.C, P.R or Canada. Nominator must be 7 years of age or older. Nominee must be between the ages of 7 - 18 as of February 27, 2009.


Twelve (12) Huggable Heroes Grand Prizes (10 from the U.S./D.C./P.R. and 2 from CAN): A
$7,500 USD educational savings scholarship; a $2,500 USD donation toward Winner's designated 501(c)3
charity or a registered Canadian charity from the Build-A-Bear Workshop Foundation; a trip to a U.S. city chosen by Sponsor at a designated time in July 2009 for Nominee and one Guest for a professional photo shoot; and the potential to be featured in the Build-A-Bear Workshop 2010
calendar. Trip includes roundtrip standard class air; minimum of two (2) nights double occupancy standard hotel accommodations, and ground transportation to/from airport/hotel. Approximate Retail Value (ARV):
$14,000 USD each.
