Does anyone know were I can get a good deal on a lower-end computer (desktop or notebook)? I need one for my online class, so if it's a notebook one, it has to have a half-way decent sized screen.
My computer got a virus & is now junk . I borrowed an old computer from a friend, but I can't do my classes on this, it is just too old.
Any help would be appreciated.

oh toshiba! was gonna say, i'd never heard of "tosh"! so now that i think of it, the computer guy we used to have in the office always recommended acer. he was microsoft certified and an acer reseller. i don't know one model from the other but i could ask around. you can't buy direct from acer but i pulled up one from staples just now.
maybe mary's heard of this "atom" processor, i haven't. it's a little guy 8.9 and probably not any powerhouse. the first one i pulled up was $600 though.
this $299 price looks pre-rebate to me, but don't hold me to it.
that toshiba does looks nice to me!
is that a real name "netbook" or did you make that up? yes, mighty tiny. for the money the toshiba is WAY better! don't think i'd want THAT acer, but a more expensive one might be nice! not that i'm gonna get one of any kind mind you!
edit: guess you didn't make that up! buy.com is advertising this for $284.00. maybe they are taking the rebate themselves? i'm not impressed with e-machines though. and celeron on a laptop is probably worse than my desktop.
