Thumbs down

In his first weeks in office, President Barack Obama shut down his predecessorís system for reviewing regulations, realigned and expanded two key White House policymaking bodies and extended economic sanctions against parties to the conflict in the African nation of Cote DíIvoire.
Despite the intense scrutiny a president gets just after the inauguration, Obama managed to take all these actions with nary a mention from the White House press corps.
The moves escaped notice because they were never announced by the White House Press Office and were never placed on the White House web site.

Transparency my ass...

I heard on news this morning that OBAMA is going to consider refinancing home loans for the homes current value NOT the original price.

So someone who couldn't afford the house in the first place would now get to live there for the price of the readjusted market loan payment. Guess who would pick up the difference?

So far I am sure glad I didn't vote for him. I can't see one thing he has done yet that will help this country.

i second that. i believe we are in big trouble. i also heard obama is trying to get a law passed that the president can stay in office forever. in other words, he will be our president forever and ever and noone can vote him out. something like that......but basically that is what it is. he will never have to leave office.

I hear your pain, Wade! We have been building as we could afford it - no mortgage. We hope to have the house finished when DH retires. (4 yrs) "Course, he won't be able to "retire", just the he will leave this job and move on to another one, so we can pay for the rest of the world.

And Mary, you're right! The Media wanted him in office, so they aren't going to say a peep. He could (and will) dismantle the Constitution word by word and the mainstream media will stand by and watch.

I agree - we saved every penny and paid off our house early so we wouldn't have a house payment. Looks like we should have spent our money and let the government rescue us too. It is so frustrating.

Has anyone actually read the Presidential Determination themselves or are you all taking what the article says and going along with it? I read the Presidential Determination and don't see where it says that it "will allow hundreds of thousands of Palestinians with ties to the terrorist group Hamas to resettle in the United States."

Here is what the Presidential Determination says, keep in mind that the word migrate is not the same as emigrate.

Quote:
Presidential Determination No. 2009-15 Unexpected Urgent Refugee and Migration Needs Related To Gaza
The Fedreal Registry ^ | Feb 4, 2009 | Obama

Presidential Determination No. 2009-15 of January 27, 2009

Memorandum for the Secretary of State

By the authority vested in me by the Constitution and the laws of the United States, including section 2(c)(1) of the Migration and Refugee Assistance Act of 1962 (the ``Act''), as amended (22 U.S.C. 2601), I hereby determine, pursuant to section 2(c)(1) of the Act, that it is important to the national interest to furnish assistance under the Act in an amount not to exceed $20.3 million from the United States Emergency Refugee and Migration Assistance Fund for the purpose of meeting unexpected and urgent refugee and migration needs, including by contributions to international, governmental, and nongovernmental organizations and payment of administrative expenses of Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration of the Department of State, related to humanitarian needs of Palestinian refugees and conflict victims in Gaza.

You are authorized and directed to publish this memorandum in the Federal Register.

(Presidential Sig.)

THE WHITE HOUSE,

Washington, January 27, 2009
BTW, Bush basically did the same thing for Somalia, Sudan, Chad, Other Parts of Africa, and the West Bank and Gaza. Here is the link to that Presidential Determination in 2007: http://edocket.access.gpo.gov/2007/07-2654.htm I guess it was okay for Bush, but not Obama. Go figure.
