"The country is in for a roller coaster of a ride, IMHO. Think I'm gonna start burying my money in a Mason jar in the backyard."

I think everyone should do that Nan...bury it somewhere. We have. Also, it is a good idea to keep cash (lots of ones) in your "Go Bag" in case of emergency.

In the last depression it was only folks who had ready cash and practical skills that got by. Whether your garden is a 1/2 acre of your yard, or pots on your balcony, you should plant one. Even if you never have before - better start learning. The powers that be keep saying that things will turn around, but when? I think we are going to see lots of hunger in America in the next few years - lots more than there already is. The elderly and the young are going to be hit the hardest.

That is for sure Nan. When we no longer have ready access to goods and services because so many people and businesses are gone we have to depend upon ourselves.

The increase in my dh's paycheck will be under $8. I can't decide where to spend all the money first....a trip to Hawaii, a new car, or maybe that lakeside vacation home I've been wanting. Decisions, decisions!

Why do I feel like I'm getting screwed somehow with this stimulus bill? Just because I live within my means, drive an 8 year old van, and am thrifty doesn't mean I'm able to get ahead any more than anyone else. Seriously, is an additional $7 and change supposed to change my spending habits? It costs more than that to feed my family for one day. I guess we'll just have to get ahead the old fashioned way...work for it! What a concept.

Go for Door #2 or #3, Lisa. . .if you buy a new car or home, you'll likely get a tax credit at the very least!

'zackly! It just seems kinda odd to me that companies are closing, people are losing jobs left and right and this whole package provides money for roads and encourages people to buy homes and vehicles, while giving those who manage to hang onto their homes and jobs an additional $8 to $18, more or less, with which to buy a dwindling supply of goods in order to stimulate a dying economy. If I had the energy, I think I might be afraid.
