Boeing Announces Layoffs -- After Election

The day after President Obama was elected to a second term, Boeing announced a 30 percent cut in managerial positions in the company. Boeing says the cuts are not part of the president's $500 billion in defense cuts, set to take effect in January 2013.

Vast Majority of Voters Concerned About Federal Government Corruption

The Breitbart News/Judicial Watch survey of election day voters released today showed that the vast majority of voters are concerned about government corruption, but that this issue did not give the Republicans an advantage on Election Day. Surprisingly, slightly more voters had confidence in the ability of the Democratic Party to limit corruption in Washington than the Republican Party. As Tom Fitton, President of Judicial Watch, said: “The electorate is closely divided on who our nation's political leadership should be. But there is strong voter support for core conservative values: limited, honest and transparent government; the rule of law approach to illegal immigration; and strong election integrity measures, namely voter ID."

Thought of the Day: The Election, a Victory for Incivility

It was a victory for Chicago-style politics, in particular for David Axelrod’s campaign ruthlessness. The persistent blaming of George Bush for today’s economic woes worked in that exit surveys showed 53% of the public blamed Mr. Bush for today’s economy, while 38% blamed Mr. Obama. Mr. Axelrod’s strategy was a reaffirmation of Joseph Goebel’s dictum: if you repeat a lie often enough, people will come to believe it as truth.

Obama Now Free to 'Be Who He Is'

President Barack Obama will never again have to face voters. Nothing he does will have to be calibrated for how it plays in swing states or with Independent voters. He is now governing solely for his own legacy. This is one reason I so opposed his reelection. Given his left-ward lunge in his first term, I shuddered to think where he would go in his second. An article today in Obama fan-zine Buzzfeed confirms my fears

What Will Barack Obama Do Now?

The natural question facing Barack Obama is whether he will move to the center, because the election was a close one, or double down on his aggressive attempts to permanently change the fundamental nature of the United States, because he will never face election again.

Obama's Epically Awful Victory Speech

Last night, President Obama gave a victory speech that wasn’t so much a victory speech as a hackneyed mash-up of all his greatest hits, spiced with a hefty dose of socialism for good measure. In other words, it was typical Obama. And we get four more years of this bull.

Americans Re-Elect Higher Taxes, Higher Gas Prices, and More Expensive Healthcare

Barack Obama was re-elected, which essentially locks in tax hikes on everyone (forget the $250,000 barrier), and portends even greater increases in gas prices and healthcare costs.

Forward Downward: Stocks Crash After Obama Win

The Dow Jones Industrial Average lost nearly 250 points in the first hour of trading on Wednesday morning, the day after President Barack Obama won re-election to a second term in office. News of poor economic forecasts in Europe also drove the steep decline; the European Union is now predicting that it will slide into recession. European markets had actually greeted the Obama win with a brief rise, before economic reality set in.
