P.S. I was diagnosed with osteoporosis about 7 years ago. If this runs in your family or you just want to know if you have it, the x-ray test is simple, about 20 minutes, and painless, you just lie down and let the machine do all the work.

The first doctor I went to for this prescribed FOSAMAX which is taken once a week. One side affect is stomach irritation and I had it bad. Could have led to an ulcer. After about 6 months on it, I stopped taking it.

When I moved to this area and had to change doctors, the one here prescribed Evista after I explained how FOSAMAX affected me. Evista is taken daily and I have had no side affects at all. I also take a calcium supplement with the Evista.

My last check up shows the osteoporosis is not only in my spine and but now shows up in my right hip. The sonogram type pic of my hip made me laugh because it looks like a shark took a bite out of the middle of the bone.
