This sounds too good to be true so I think I will pass. How can we test the phone? I can picture 911 operators getting calls saying “just trying my phone to see if it works.” Probably a bill for the improper use of an emergency number will be in the mail.

FYI – if you call 911 to try and see if it works, you must stay on the line and tell the operator that you were testing a phone. I did this with an old cell phone I had that had no service and no SIM card and the operator was very helpful, nice and understanding and explained to me any cell phone can call 911 (even without service or a Sim card) but the caller must be able to tell the operator where they are as all the operator can see is the last address that the phone was registered to. BTW there is no charge for calling 911, even if it is not an emergency, the only time they might impose a charge like that is if you were prank calling them.
